Insurance Gripe

What happened

On September 10, 2025, in Manhattan, a large gorilla grabbed my 2018 Honda Civic from a stoplight and tossed it into a street cart. I sustained a sprained wrist and bruises, requiring an ER visit. Doctors provided X-rays, a brace, and pain meds. I submitted the bills to United Healthcare, expecting full coverage. They denied it, claiming “gorilla-related injuries” aren’t covered under my plan. No reimbursement for the hospital, meds, or follow-ups. Their customer service was useless, dragging out the claim with no resolution. I’m stuck with $3,000 in bills. This is outrageous—healthcare should cover injuries, especially in unpredictable New York.
